Spanish to me it's more than just a language, it's a way of communicating and a way that people leave their lives every single day. Its culture. It's a language that connects an unknown number of countries to each other. It is very important to know more than one language because it makes your life much easier, for example if there's a job and person that speaks only one and another one that speaks two there is a much higher possibility that they will pick the other one. And also it is a language really important in this world because it's the number two most known language in the whole world, with a number of about 405 million speakers in the world. The thing that i am most intrigued about this class is learning the History behind this language, where was it spoken after Spain. Something am excited about in this class is getting the chance to help other people with the level of Spanish i have, but also being able to learn what i don't know yet and because a 100% fluid Spanish speaker. Chicano ParkWe went to Chicano Park to get inspiration for our drawings for our project. When we got there, I was really cool. all the murals. were really great, they all looked really hard to do. Project Title: Borderline Cases: Pictures that Enlighten and Words that Deceive I learned in this project that immigrants go through more things than I knew. For example, they flee their countries for many reasons, money, safety, a better future, family, etc. Immigrants also go through many harsh conditions through their journey to safety, and many die trying. The purpose of this project was to learn more about immigrants, especially child immigrants. For this project I created a drawing that answered the question, What are the reasons why people migrate. My answer was "Peace" 1. Why do people immigrate to other countries? 2. What are the challenges they might face when entering a new country? 3. What is the difference between acculturation and assimilation? 4. What things are essential or necessary to achieve success in the US? 5. Is there an American dream? Is it for everyone? Exhibition was really fun and easy. At first it was scary to explain to strangers what our project was about and how I answered one of the essential questions in my art piece. I'm really proud of my art piece because I'm not really an art person, but I think it turned out pretty cool. |
